Cabo San Lucas is my first visit to Mexico, I don’t know how I have never been to Mexico despite having lived in the US for 20 years but now that I finally made it to Mexico my verdict, AWESOME !!
What took me so long ? Mexico has it all, beautiful weather, great people, great food, great beaches and hotels. It took us so long to get here and what do we do when we finally get to Mexico, absolutely nothing ! five nights we spent at The Cape a Thompson hotel along the tourist corridor outside Cabo San Lucas and literally we did nothing, except sit by the pool all day, sleep and eat.

I so rarely have this type of holiday, where I just sit around and do nothing. There is not much to write in this post, as I have stated I did not do much. We went one day to down town Cabo for about an hour looked around the Marina, had a quick drink and decided that we did not want to move anymore so we went back to our pool lounges at The Cape.

Going to the beach. The Cape Hotel, Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

The Cape Hotel is beautiful, if a more traditional hacienda style decor is your taste then The Cape may not be to your liking because the architecture of The Cape is sleek and contemporary all clean lines and modern decor. The infinity pool overlooking the Pacific Ocean is the gathering place where everyone congregates throughout the day, it is the heart of the hotel if you like.

The food at The Cape is very much geared towards the American palette. Lots of salsa’s, guacamole and chips sushi, quinoa salads. We did go one night to the acclaimed Manta restaurant where the food is a combination of Mexican, Peruvian and Japanese. I must say, while I am glad I tried it I would not go again, very small portions and overpriced.

The Cape is attached to a non swimming beach, the currants are too strong to swim but great for surfing. The beach was mostly deserted and the perfect location for some killer sunsets.

So that’s about it, my Mexican getaway where I can honestly say I was over relaxed for once. I am hooked now, it is not if I will go back but when. Anyone been to Punta Mita ?
