Cascais – Portugal

Jumping into water, Cascais, Portuga

After spending the first few days of our summer holiday in metropolitan Lisbon. I wanted to get out of the city and experience a slower pace. After enjoying beautiful, trendy, urban Lisbon for the first few days of my summer holiday’s I longed to see a beach and the sea. We, therefore took the 40 minute train ride out of the city to Cascais a pretty seaside town west of Lisbon.

Nothing says summer holiday more then the combination of sun, sand and sea and Cascais has all of this as well as a very cute little shopping and dining area and the loveliest pastel washed buildings.Lisbon’s fashionable people holiday here and I can see why, the town is immaculately maintained with pretty well kept houses and lovely little gardens.

Thankfully there is no escaping art on buildings in Portugal it is everywhere and it is beautiful. The colors and the designs glow in the sun I could look at it all day.

This sleepy little town was perfect for us for a laid back day trip with a long midday lunch, a wander around the shops and a stroll along the coast before boarding the train back to Lisbon.
