Melrose Avenue – Los Angeles

Made in LA wall, Melrose Avenue, LA
After a two year absence I was so happy to be back in Los Angeles. To read about my previous visit click here. We again decided to stay in West Hollywood but this time we rented a house just off Melrose Ave in the design district between La Cienega and Fairfax Ave. This part of Melrose is great for street shopping as well as having fantastic street art, galleries, comedy clubs, cool restaurants, cafes and bars.

The designs and colors of the wall art were bold and extremely eye catching.

This advertisement featuring Pharell Williams was one of my favorites, it covered an entire wall and again the colors are gorgeous.

I loved walking up and down Melrose Ave, checking out the fashion in the cool shops as well as seeing the chic shoppers in their snazzy street ware all snapping away on their phones ready to conquer instagram with their too cool for school photos.

The bright pink walls of the Paul Smith store is a favorite of the social media photographers.

The legendary Fred Segal is a staple in the Los Angeles shopping scene since the 1960’s.

I love the message on this door.

One of the birthplaces of cool street style is LA. Skate boarding, surfing and of course beach culture are everywhere.

Even though it was cool and rainy during our visit the abundance of cactus and palm trees was a reminder that for most of the year LA is in fact a tropical paradise.

Alfred’s coffee shop was an early morning favorite.

Some of the places I enjoyed eating at while in LA were Urth Caffe, Alfred’s Coffee. Lunch was at Fig and Olive and on Fairfax Ave Pitfire Pizza. Also downtown LA has a great casual Indian spot called Badmaash.
In Santa Monica we went to a great asian fusion place called Cassia and in Brentwood we enjoyed dinner at Tavern

When I got on the plane to leave LA I started to plan when I can come back, I know it will not be long before I venture to this west coast paradise again, I love LA.
Let me know if you have any recommendations of places I should visit next time.
