Dunking

IMG_0409

Afternoon tea does not really exist in Britain. Tea is simply drunk all day long morning, noon and night. What is British however is dunking.
To dunk is to submerge some food into a beverage. In this instance the food of choice is Rich Tea Biscuits and the beverage of choice is piping hot tea.

The biscuit should be submerged for about a second – any longer and the biscuit becomes a floating mess in the cup. This submersion creates just the right
amount of moistness so that when devoured the taste and the entire tea drinking experience is elevated. Enjoy!

In South Africa we have a similar tradition. We dunk “rusks”. A rusk is similar to a biscuit just a little thicker and we also dunk it in coffee.

    Fun blog. Thanks for sharing
